THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGER TIPS !!

On 9/14/2011, history was made in Hancock County when Hancock County HIgh School distributed iPads to all high schools students, creating a true 1:1 ratio of iPads to students.

Hancock County., (WFIE) Hancock County high school students got their iPads on Wednesday. Each student gets their very own, which is a first in Kentucky.

Student Dakota Basham says, "I was definitely very surprised because Hancock County, we don't usually get to be the ground breakers."

Teachers say they're working the iPads into the classroom one day at a time.

Basham says, "They give us a lot of time to sit there and teach ourselves more. They don't do things for us. You can tell that the teachers have really worked hard to find out what kind of things this opens up."

Students say they use the Note app to take notes, highlight the material, and study it. Students say they also look up questions on Google, if their teacher is busy with another student.

Students say getting homework through an iPad makes it easier for them to remember to do it.

Student Victoria Shaffer says, "Instead of paper copies, which kids can lose, they just send it to us electronically so we'll always have it there. If we're done with it, we can just send it back to them and they get it in an instant."

Teachers say the iPad won't make them get rid of pencil and paper just yet.

They say adding the new device is just another tool to use in the classroom.
