IMMUNIZATION REMINDER
The Kentucky Department of Education made a recent amendment to the Kentucky Administrative Regulation regarding immunization schedules for Kentucky public school students. This new requirement for school enrollment will affect the majority of our students in Hancock County. A new immunization certificate will be required upon entry to school for the 2018-2019 school year. The requirements are listed below:
- All students in Kindergarten through 12th grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school *this will require a series of shots at least 6 months apart,
and
- Students aged 16 years or older, must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine to attend school. If the first does of MenACWY was received at age sixteen (16) years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
We suggest checking with your family physician/pediatrician to make sure that your child is up to date on the new required immunizations. If your child has only received one dose of the Hepatitis A before school starts an appointment card with the date of the next shot will be required to show proof of upcoming appointment.
Thank you!
