South Hancock Elementary began in 1978 as a result of the closing of Pellville Elementary. The school has shown steady growth since its beginning. Additions were added in 2000 and 2009 to the present size of ten regular classes, four and a half special needs classes (including speech/language). Academic growth has been evident in the history of South Hancock Elementary with teachers constantly striving to improve the presentation and student mastery of the curriculum. The school has received awards for academic achievement during the past years and continues to have the vision of student achievement.
