Kentucky Family Resource Youth Services Centers (FRYSCs) were started in Kentucky schools as a part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) in the early 1990s. North Hancock Elementary Family Resource Center was established in 1992-1993 school year. FRYSCs are designed to enhance students' abilities to succeed in school and provide school-based family support through programs and partnerships that promote early learning and transition into school, academic achievement and well-being, and graduation and transition into adult life.
Mission
Our mission is to reduce and remove nonacademic barriers to learning as a means to enhance our students' academic success. We understand our students face nonacademic barriers including poverty, lack of physical and mental health care, family instability, limited opportunity for academic enrichment during the summer, and many other circumstances that hinder our students ability to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Vision
Our vision is to provide excellent school-based family support in a friendly and welcoming environment. We stand by the "My Child Rule" and will treat every child with the same respect we would want our child to be treated with! That means doing whatever it takes to meet the needs and advocate for the best interests of our students as well as their families and our community.
What does the FRC do?
The FRCs activities, programs and services during the year include the following:
- Referrals for basic needs (food, clothing, utilities, etc.)

- After-school and summer programming referrals
