Students need to choose one activity from each category from the list below for each day we miss school due to inclement weather.
Reading
- 30 minutes Compass Language Arts
- 30 minutes AR reading and take AR test (remember to stay within your reading range)
- Tumblebooks.com (username: nhancock password: books)
- Read a newspaper or magazine article
Writing
- Write a summary about a story you have read in a book, newspaper, or magazine article. Include characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end or discuss major people/events of the article.
- Write a short story from the following story starters:
- I couldn’t fall asleep in my tent. I heard this noise outside and….
- All during the day I was nervous. I ran home at 3:00. When I got home….
- I walked into my bedroom and found a giant box on my bed. I opened the box and….

Math
- 30 minutes Compass Learning Math
- Math Magician (practice your multiplication facts)
- Draw arrays for your multiplication facts
- Create a set of flashcards to study your multiplication facts
- Create 3 word problems for you multiplication facts
Spelling
- Write spelling words 3 times each
- Write the words with blue vowels and red consonants
- Write words in ABC order
- Use each spelling word in a sentence
- Rainbow write your spelling words
- Write a spelling word and a matching rhyming word when possible
Non-traditional instructional days will begin on the 8th snow day. My child will complete one activity from each category for each missed day.
