NTI (Non Traditional  Instruction) Day Contract                                 

Students need to choose one activity from each category from the list below for each day we miss school due to weather/health. Record the activity with a parent signature.

Day 5 and on….  They can also choose from the Worksheet Packet and/or this list.

Reading

• 30 minutes AR reading and take AR test (NHES website AR link)

            (username: 34first initial last name altogether ex:34jsmith) (password: lunch #)

• 30 minutes Epic.com and write a summary of 1 story

            (class code: ?)

• 30 minutes Read a newspaper or magazine article and write a summary

*When writing a summary:  Include characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end or discuss major       

                                                people/events of the article.*

Writing

• Describe what the weather is like outside. Include sounds, sites, and feelings.

• Write a letter to your teacher. Tell something about your day or something new that you have learned during your time off.

• Write a short story from the following story starters:

  • I couldn’t fall asleep in my tent. I heard this noise outside and….

  • All during the day I was nervous. I ran home at 3:00. When I got home….

  • I walked into my bedroom and found a giant box on my bed. I opened the box and….

  • Every day after school my friends and I would go to the playground and…

  • I walked outside and saw a spaceship in the distance….

Math

• Math Magician (practice your addition and subtraction facts) (NHES website)

• Create a set of flashcards to study your addition and subtraction facts to 20

• Create 3 word problems for your addition and subtraction facts

Spelling     

(No spelling words for the week, use 10 sight words from the Fry Word Lists-If you are on Spelling List 1, use 3rd 100 Fry Words.  If you are on Spelling List 2, use 2nd 100 Fry Word Lists )

• Write spelling words 3 times each

• Write the words with blue vowels and red consonants

• Write words in ABC order

• Use each spelling word in a sentence

• Rainbow write your spelling words

• Write a spelling word and a matching rhyming word when possible
