Apprenticeship Program through Dataseam:
Welcome DJ Compton, Camden Garrison, and Gavin Smiley as the newest members of Hancock County Technology Team. These Hancock County students are participating in a US Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship for Information Technology sponsored by Dataseam. They will be learning and earning, supporting the technology needs for one of Kentucky’s largest employers, K-12 education.
Today is “laptop day” across the state for the newest Dataseam Apprentices, who earn these as part of the program, taking them along with two years of practical work experience upon graduation to university or career.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 2025
Hancock County Schools held its first Leadership Academy for Staff interested in pursuing leadership roles in their future career planning. Participants began in November 2024, meeting on Saturday mornings monthly to learn about their path to Leadership.

The first Leadership Academy finished on March 22, 2025. Participants included: Heather Bowlds, Brook Gibson, Treavor Garrison, Dr. Elizabeth Helm, Cindy Garvin, and Kaitlyn Fischer (not pictured).
Facilitators of the HC Leadership Academy included Robby Asberry, Aleta Sisk, Dr. Debbie Powers, and Robin Poynter (not pictured).
Thank you to all who helped make the first HC Leadership Academy a success.
Trauma Informed Care: August 12, 2025
Trauma-informed care in schools involves a shift in perspective and practice to recognize and respond to the impact of trauma on students and staff, fostering a safe and supportive environment for learning and well-being.
School administrators play a crucial role in implementing and sustaining
rauma-informed approaches, which includes strategic planning, staff training, and integrating trauma-informed principles into various aspects of school operations.

Abram DeJarnette
Hancock County High School
Abram DeJarnette scored 1st Chair Alto Saxophone in the All-State Concert Band! Abram scored in the top 5 of all students in the state on Alto Saxophone. He tied with two other students for the 3rd highest score.
He will represent Hancock County at the annual KMEA Conference in February (Louisville, KY). This is the highest individual honor possible for a high school musician.
There have only been six other students in the history of Hancock’s band program (established in 1970) that have been selected for the All-State Bands.
