Welcome to the Emma Kimbro Library (the library media center of North Hancock Elementary School) and to the South Hancock Elementary School Library website!

My name is Rebecca Evans, and I am the elementary library media director of North Hancock Elementary School and South Hancock Elementary School. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year!

I have library classes on Wednesdays and Fridays at North Hancock Elementary and Mondays and Thursdays at South Hancock Elementary. Every homeroom has library class once a week. The classes are 25 minutes in length at North Hancock Elementary School and 30 minutes in length at South Hancock Elementary School. The majority of that time is dedicated to checking out library books for the week. The students also work on skills related to the library media center and the American Library Association's standards during short library lessons.

A Little About Me

I was raised in Martinsville, IL, a small rural farming community. My father was a commercial roofing company owner/roofer, and my mother was a nurse. I grew up on a farm, and I was raised in a close-knit family. Upon graduating high school, I attended Indiana State University, where I worked on campus as a student worker at Cunningham Memorial Library, and obtained a degree to teach middle and high school English. When I married, I moved to Owensboro, KY, where I have resided since. I have eight years of teaching experience at the high school level in the state of Kentucky. While teaching English classes at the high school level, I obtained my Master's degree from Western Kentucky University to become a certified library media specialist. This is my sixth year working as an elementary library media specialist.

I have an incredible husband: John Evans. He is a machinist and works for the family business in Owensboro.

I am a mother to three dogs: Parker, Jack, and Bessie.

I have an obsession with butterflies and hippopotamuses.

I love to read, walk my dogs, write, travel, attend church, and spend time with my family.
